64 National Film Awards INDIA
National Film Awards is one of the most important Films awards in India and this year it was the 64th edition of the NFA. It was established by the government of INDIA in 1954 and since then its been one of the most prestigious events in the INDIAN Film Industry. Every year, a national panel appointed by the government that select the winning entry, and the award ceremony is held in the capital of India NEW DELHI. The President of India presents the honours of the awards. National Film Awards is as big as event synonymous to the American Academy awards.
Best Actors Awards at NFA
Akshay Kumar remained the sole Bollywood recipient, winning Best Actor for his patriotic turn in crime thriller Rustom. “It is great news. National Film awards are the most prestigious awards in the country. It is a moment of pride for sure. The first reaction, honestly, was if this was a late April Fool’s joke (laughs)! Actually, I am still trying to process this win, it is a mix of many emotions – surprise, happiness and, most prominently, gratitude to the jury, makers of the film, my parents and of course the beloved fans ,” says Akshay Kumar. Honestly his humble attitude always floors me and I’m a Big fan! Malayalam star Surabhi Lakshmi was awarded Best Actress for Minnaminungu The Firefly.

Best Film Awards at NFA
Amitabh Bachchan-starrer Pink, which championed the cause of women, won the award for Best Film on Social Issues, while Ram Madhvani’s biopic Neerja was named the Best Hindi Film of the year. Lead actor Sonam Kapoor earned a special mention for her performance in the film.
Nagesh Kukunoor’s Dhanak emerged as the Best Children’s Film. Rajesh Mapuskar won Best Director for his Marathi comedy drama Ventilator. Marathi film Kasaav was named the Best Feature Film for 2016.
