The Best at Lakme Fashion Week Winter Festive 2018

Lakme Fashion Week is one of the most awaited fashion week in India. This season it was held at St.Regis in South Mumbai from August 22nd-26^th August 2018. This exotic week has always brought together best of both beauty and fashion. Lakme Fashion Week is one of the most popular weeks attended by the well-known names of fashion-industry hence it would be yet another exciting season. DAY 1– The 5-day long fashion event started with a next generation initiative by INIFD’s Yadvi Agarwal’s collection; Yavi. The collection is been described as one representing worn impressionism, along with the pieces hand-printed and embroidered.

• Shweta Kapur- Shweta Kapur’s collection was all about extreme fun polkas with leather and chunky belts. While the current trend is all about pastel hues and nudes, but Shweta’s collections was miles away from the trend, going with bold reds and browns with tassel detailing.

• Rahul & Shikha- Vrisa by Rahul and Shikha which is based in Jaipur is inspired from India’s textile heritage. The collection was with a distinct color palette of Maroon Aubergine, and navy blue highlighted by light pink and cream. Distinct traditional kurtas of varying lengths were paired with a wide leg and slimline trousers.

• Ankur Modi & Priyanka Modi- The designer duo AM-PM showcased their collection GYPSET in the free-spirited modern nomad. They re-created classic Indian boho-chic, Tunics became shirt-dress, flared pants. Colour palette that ruled their collection were deep reds, dull greens, oranges. Beige and greys were also been included. These colors further collaborated with different type of patchwork, embroidery work, prints.

• Abraham & Thakore- David Abraham and Rakesh Thakore’s collection named Cocktail and Samosa was a line of weaves inter-woven with grey and metallic hues. The inspiration behind the title of the collection cocktail is dressing with a desi twist. The collection had different weaves and geometric patterns. The silhouettes were inspired by Jama’s, chogas the Northeastern garments wrapped around the body.

DAY 2- LFW moves to the 2^nd day of the festive season, where designers are gearing up with intricate art and design. Day 2 was dedicated to artisans and theme Sustainable Fashion.

• VRIKSH by GUNJAN JAIN- Is a collection of hand woven-saris teamed with workwear blouses.

• KHADI and VILLAGE INDUSTRIES- Khadi silks dominates a big collection on layering and different types of silhouettes. Clothing is rooted in the Japanese concept of Wabi-Sabi.

• Sunita SHANKER- The Delhi based designer’s collection was a perfect fit for Day 2 theme of LFW Sustainable Fashion, as it was a tribute to craftsmen. The collection comprised of layers co-ordination and evoking a sense of culture and origin.

• EKA RAJESH PRATAP SINGH- Their spectacular collection is mostly of hand-spun and hand-woven cotton, hand block prints for the season. The collection focuses on natural fibers and raw beauty.

LFW winter festive 2018 day 3 day 4 & day 5 looks

DAY 3- The third day of LFW saw colors and textures in a row. From the creations inspired by the royalty to collection promoting body positivity. The event had no boundaries or restrictions to showcase the ideas that were unique and revolutionary.

• NACHIKET BARVE- Nachiket Barve’s collection was a wide range of techniques that re-invented old age craft traditions. The fabrics used were wonderfully embellished like beadwork, Resham, applique. These type of fabric are perfect for the destination wedding. Inspired by 20’s and 30’s, collection was an amalgamation of premium styles with lightweight fluid fabrics.

• AMIT AGARWAL- Amit Agarwal showcased his men’s wear line at LFW 2018. Amit put forth his collection that uses new age materials, patterns, forms with incredible craftsmanship. The designer has taken inspiration from Kinetic movements and energies which restores Vintage Phulkari, traditional Indian Metallic embroidery technique. The color palette had the hues of arctic and pearl white, granite, silver grey and radiant black.

  DAY 4

• ANUSHREE REDDY- The highly anticipated Anushree Reddy on day 4 showcased her designs. The designer’s collection was a celebration of her favorite hue. Displaying 21 different ensembles from Anarkalis to kurtas to lehengas. Anushree’s designs brought together sensual colors with delicate handcrafted applique flowers, butterflies, leaves.

• Payal Singhal- Payal Singhal introduced her Mu’asir collection. The word Mu’asir means modern and contemporary in Persian. The collection includes the oldest form of Turkish Kilim. To give an attractive look to the collection of fabrics such as organza’s, georgettes, and luxury silks were used.

• Kunal Rawal- Kunal Rawal showcased his men’s wear collection getting inspired from metal insignias with hints of military and retro influences. Kunal’s collection titled ‘perspective’ is a big collection with different silhouette play and texturing form of prints and embroidery.

DAY5

• Nakita SINGH- The designer was inspired by travel and nature called ‘wilderness’. The collection relaxed and gave a contemporary vibe with doodle sketch embroidery, earthy color palette, and handloom fabrics.

• PUNIT BALANA- Punit’s collection ‘Gulabi Chowk’ is inspired by Jaipur city, the pride of pink. The collection bestowed a stylish expression of comfort and creativity of block prints and silhouettes.

• RITU KUMAR- The amazingly talented designer Ritu Kumar showcased her lavishing collection on the very last day of the week. The theme was based on ‘native spirit’ an ode to nature and great outdoors. The tribal art blended with the romance of wild west. The collection features an earthy color palette and rustic charm.
